LDH slightly elevated
Hello, ive been having anxiety type symptoms lately accompanied with bouts of fatigue and nausea. Just a general feeling of sickness. Ive had numerous blood tests that would always come back normal. I saw family doc this past fri and explained that things arent getting better. She orderd more lab work but this time added LDH test. I got word that those levels came back slightly elevated. Doc has ordered a CT scan. Im worried to say the least. But wondering if there is a big difference on what could cause elevated numbers. Like if they are just slightly elevated to a higher elevation?
LDH can be elevated due to many reasons:
1. liver disease,
2. heart attack,
3. anemia,
4. muscle trauma,
5. bone fractures,
6. cancers,
7. and infections such as meningitis, encephalitis,
8. and HIV.
That’s because our tissue release their LDH when they get damage.
So that LDH can’t be used alone for diagnosis, doctors usually order LDH with other tests.
