what is a normal blood glucose level?

for a female, age 14? because diabetes runs in my family, and i have been unintentionally losing a lot and lot of weight, so i checked my blood, and my glucose was 86. is that low?

Update:
but isnt it usually in the mid-100’s? it is not fasting, just a normal day’s level

Best Answer: 70-100 is normal after an overnight fast.

70-139 is normal 2 hours after eating.

  • No, this is normal. When your blood sugar falls to 55 you will begin to experience symptoms of anxiety, sweating, palpitations, hunger and tremor. Mental confusion may begin to be noticed at a level of about 50.

  • when i found out i was diabetic i asked the same question. me and my friend went to dinner one night and she ate a crap load. a burger, fries, a salad, then atleast 3 glasses of regular pepsi. for a diabetic thats a ton of carbs. two hours later i tested my blood sugar and mine was 120. i tested hers and it was 82. i asked my doctor and she said for a non-diabetic 82 was normal. so i would say 86 would be normal. my doctor says in the mornings 70-100 is good and during the day 2 hours after meals nothing over 160. but i think everyones range that is diabetic is different. ive heard of diabetics who have ranges higher. the only way you would know if your were diabetic is to see your doctor for sure and get some blood work done.
